Printing Badges & Reports
SIGN IN allows you to print using your existing printer, or by wireless printers compatible with your AIRPRINT enabled iPad.
SIGN IN sends badges and reports as .pdf attachments from your iPad to your email. Open the email and print the attachment.
Or, SIGN IN can send a .pdf to your printer directly! Here are some notes on configuring your printers.
PC Users: FINGERPRINT
Your iPad's O/S (Operating system) includes an AIRPRINT product, to enable wireless printing. Make sure to purchase a AIRPRINT compatible printer. For a list, click below on AIRPRINT Support button.
Other wireless solutions involve WIFI enable printers.
One of our clients, has sent us these notes on how they did it! The badges come flying out at lightning speed....so very cool!
"The iPad and the Receptionist’s computer are on the same subnet network. The printer is connected to the computer. We have software installed on the computer which acts as a print server and causes the iPad to detect the printer via airprint. When an iPad is told to print, it uses "Bonjour" to send out a signal across the network looking for an AirPrint printer. What this software does is use " Bonjour" to accept that signal and feed it through the computer and over to the printer, thus allowing it to be printed from as if it had AirPrint capabilities." Bonjour is an Apple application that allows discovery of printers connected to subnet from a Windows PC. Bonjour is available free for Windows V2.0.2 or higher. Click on button below.
As long as the computer (print server) and the iPad are both on the same network and subnet, they should be able to talk to each other. This means they would both have to be wireless.
You can use FingerPrint by Collobos to act as a go-between for the iPad and the printer. With that software installed and running on our computer (and configured with the printer), the printer plugged into the computer, and both the computer and the iPad on the same network and subnet, everything works fine.
You may also want to make sure you have the correct print drivers installed for the printer. I believe the printer comes with a CD which includes them.
Direct from your iPad via HP ePrint Solution
Try this great new solution for printing badges! We recommend trying HP’s new Officejet 8100 ePrinter series…..it is WIFI enabled. Set up SIGN IN to email the badge to this printer’s email address. Yes, that’s right, HP ePrinter series allows you to email the printer directly! The pdf badge attachment will print! Supply the printer with pre-cut badge size paper, and away you go!
Place the badge in a clear sleeve holder, preferably on a lanyard. Visitor’s prefer lanyards, over clips, pins or adhesive badges, since it doesn’t ruin fine clothes, like wool suits or sweaters.
